So you’ve slept off the Slurpee hangovers, given some high-fives, and perhaps done some gloating on Facebook or Twitter.  Now what?

I think Arizona talk radio station KFYI’s Mike Broomhead said it best.  NOW IS WHEN THE WORK BEGINS.

It’s feet to the fire time, folks.  The politicians (on both sides) got elected because they promised us the moon and stars, cuter puppies and a major decrease in spending and government intrusion.  They made these promises to get our votes, and while I would bet the farm they don’t expect us to hold them to it, we have to keep the pressure on.

We need to remind incumbent and newly elected politicians alike that the “work” they did to convince us to vote for them was merely a prelude to what we expect them to do for us on a daily basis.  I’m sure your boss expects you to do the work you’ve been asked to do,  so why should we expect anything less of our politicians?

The voters, TEA Party candidates, and newly elected Republicans ALL have to prove that they aren’t doing business as usual. They need to show us that they are not the same as the “bums” we just threw out.

Note to politicians:  we’ll be watching you.  If you show us that you’re all talk and no action, y’all are outta there in 2012.

Taurus Judge Public Defender won at Central Arizona Friends of NRA dinner.

I’m very happy to report that my first Friends of NRA dinner was quite enjoyable and was even better when I found out I was going home with a Judge. It only took a $20 raffle ticket at the Central Arizona Friends of NRA dinner last night to win a new stainless Taurus Judge “Public Defender”.

It’s always nice to have a Judge on your side, especially when the Judge shoots .45 Long Colt and .410 shotgun rounds. 🙂

It may sound like hyperbole when people talk about the Southwestern United States getting overrun by a border invasion, but what else can you call it when the US Government surrenders public lands to armed foreign nationals?

Arizona shouldn’t need signs like this. No place in the US should.

You can check the Bureau of Land Management reports to see the damage done to our public lands. The reports document the trash pick up efforts to clean up after the smugglers and illegal aliens; over 234 tons of trash removed in 2009 alone. You’ll notice that we pay for security to accompany the people picking up trash in the desert too.

South of Phoenix, Arizona Game and Fish has Coues Deer hunting permits going unclaimed, as hunters avoid areas with dangerous smuggling routes. The Desert Rat outdoor blog has documented some of the environmental damage. The Desert Invasion site has photos documenting smuggling routes and layup areas from the border to Northwest of the Phoenix metro area (Lake Pleasant).

The National Park Service has even closed the Western portion of Organ Pipe National Monument out of concerns for visitor safety. This area has been closed for years. If you’re planning a visit to Organ Pipe National Monument, stop at Kris Eggle Visitor Center first.

Coronado National Memorial, Southeast of Tucson has the same problems with smugglers too.

The Federal Government has shrugged off the problems for years, comfortably ensconced in Washington D.C. Now Arizona is trying to solve these problems through enactment of SB 1070, but more needs to be done. Regardless of your feelings about the illegal immigration, we can all agree that allowing criminals to take over public lands, kidnap innocents, and shoot people is unacceptable. It’s time to let our elected officials know that they can’t surrender any more of our country. They can work on revising the immigration system later. Right now, they must secure the border.

Day 2 of the 2010 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits in Charlotte proved to be a packed day, just like the first day of the NRA convention. Staying in the center of town made for a short walk to Charlotte Convention Center and the few panhandlers I saw didn’t pester me. I should note that Charlotte’s panhandlers did have the newest and cleanest clothes I’ve seen on beggars anywhere, the Charlotte Observer should be proud.

Honored American Veterans Afield, also known as HAVA, has a booth in the main lobby area. We’ve written about the great work HAVA does, backed by the outdoor industry, to help injured and disabled soldiers transition back to civilian life. I participated in their fund raising raffle and happily departed with a few HAVA branded Smith & Wesson lockback knives. We hope you’ll support their efforts too. Despite the large attendance at the show, I was able to get a photo of the HAVA booth in main lobby area.

Even though the lobby was fairly easy to navigate, the show floor was very active and crowded around the popular booths.

Lauer Weaponry, maker of Duracote gun paints, had a display of custom painted firearms. I looked at the graffiti laden Manhattan paint scheme momentarily before this brightly painted AR-15 with a rail mounted .45 caught my eye, then apparently blinded me.

Lauer Weaponry displayed their Bloomberg edition gun paints, along with a Manhattan themed rifle, complete with graffiti.

According to a new Rasmussen poll:

Fifty-eight percent (58%) of U.S. voters say waterboarding and other aggressive interrogation techniques should be used to gain information from the terrorist who attempted to bomb an airliner on Christmas Day.

… just 30% oppose the use of such techniques, and another 12% are not sure.

We would like to add our vote in favor of waterboarding the knickerbomber, and we don’t care if they even try to get information out of him.

Move over Che Guevara and Mumia Abu-Jamal, the looney downright repulsive left has found a new criminal to defend and go to the mat for.

Roman Polanski, the film maker pedophile that drugged and sodomized a 13-year-old girl in 1977 (when he was 44 years old), was finally taken into custody by Swiss police while he was on his way to receive an honorary award at the Zurich Film Festival.  Why all the fuss you ask?  Well, not only did he commit this heinous crime,  but shortly after entering into a plea deal, he decided to flee the US,  and has never been brought to justice.

So, what could possibly be worse than this miserable creature’s crime and subsequent cowardly act of running?  How about a large contingent, including some in the Hollywood elite, making public excuses and apologies for this demon in human form?  Wait, there’s more – Andrew Breitbart’s bighollywood.com is listing the names of those that have signed the “Free Roman Polanski” petition.

If you haven’t noticed yet, I’m extremely disturbed by the defending of  the truly defensible.  There are some things that NO MATTER WHAT, you have to just say, sorry dude, that’s messed up, you’re on your own.  I don’t care if it’s been a thousand years, this guy needs to serve his time for the original crime, then serve the time for running.  JUST LIKE ANY OTHER CRIMINAL.

To the people that have chosen to defend the scum of the earth, and to Mr. Polanski himself – you WILL be going to hell, and for Mr. Polanski, there will be an extra special place for you there.

And like Joe Sarno, I don’t believe in karma either, but I do believe in justice.

Here’s to hoping that Mr. Polanski serves the rest of his days out in a prison cell with the MS-13 providing him all of the the sex in the style he prefers.  After all, sodomy is no big deal (right, Roman Polanski petition signers?).
