President Mer-see-bo-ku blundered yesterday when he welcomed guests to the Whitehouse by saying, “Welcome to Cinco de Cuatro—Cinco de Mayo at the White House.” For those who don’t habla Espanol, cinco is Spanish for “four”, which means our President of the world greeted his guests with, “Welcome to Five of Four.”
Since Exurban Kevin already beat me to the Star Trek punch, I will make a suggestion to the President –
Since you seem to be quite skilled at purchasing DVD’s, have your aids pick up some Sesame Street, Electric Company and Villa Alegre DVD’s. Then sit down with your daughters and learn how to count in Spanish the way that the residents here at Casa Diablo Grande did when we were five or six years old.
And I’m the one that’s supposed to be embarrased because I can’t speak Spanish when I go to Europe?

I just got an email from AlGore and the WeTards reminding me that Earth Day is today. They would very much like me to harrass at least 10 of my friends and family members, “And ask them to join with you and the millions of other Americans who want Congress to support clean energy jobs by closing the carbon pollution loophole.”
They are trying to get people to believe that forcing existing energy companies to pay millions of dollars in “carbon credits” will somehow create new jobs. I got a Wetard email yesterday that proclaimed, “President Obama has demonstrated that he understands that a cap on carbon pollution will lead to rapid growth in clean energy investment and create millions of jobs.”
They need to do a much better job explaining this concept to me. I guess the clean energy fairy waives her magic wand after new restrictions and cap and trade taxes cripple the energy industry, and suddenly millions of new jobs appear? Or, maybe the same fairy wiggles her nose and suddenly we have all of the infrastructure and practical technology available to create “clean” energy.
In the email from today, the WeTards also provide a second link that says, “I support clean energy but I’d like to help in other ways.” Curious as to what “help in other ways” means to them, I click on the link and it takes me straight to a donation page.
No thanks, I’m not donating my hard earned money to the Make AlGore a Billionaire fund. What happened to the days when they just wanted you to plant a tree or toss a couple of cans in the recycling bin?

One of the top stories in local news this week is that Phoenix will hit triple digits this week. Even before the global warming hoax got started, this was a big story, and I’ve never understood why the media makes such a fuss over it each year. It’s going to hit 100 degrees every year here, whether we like it or not, so what exactly makes this news?
The East Valley Tribune reports, “Normally at this time of year, highs are in the upper 80s.” Well, if you are looking backwards, that may be true, but it is not the whole story.
A quick check of records from the past couple years shows that the high temperature on April 28th, 2007 was 101.7, with temperatures in the mid to high 90’s a few days before and after (source: tnetweather.com). In 2008, we were a bit more fortunate, and the temperature bounced around in the 90’s from mid-April to mid-May, then steadily climbed until we hit the century mark on May 18th.
The Tribune did mention that our earliest 100 degree day was March 26, 1988, and the latest, June 18, 1913. What they did not include is that we had three days below 70 degrees for the high this month, which is WAY below normal for this time of year.
Conclusion? The sky is falling 100 degrees at the end of April is normal. Nothing to see here folks, move along.

Last Thursday, the President proclaimed, “More than 90 percent of the guns recovered in Mexico come from the United States, many from gun shops that line our shared border.”
Those of us who are concerned that our second amendment rights are about to be trampled on have more than a sneaking suspicion that this manufactured gun smuggling “crisis” is going to be used to justify gun bans and restrictions.
You can call me a conspiracy theorist and give me a tin foil hat, but it turns out that 90 percent is really about 17 percent.
In a depends on the definition of “is” moment, Obama spokesperson Denis McDonough told FOX News on Saturday, “By recovered he means traceable, guns traced back to the United States.” I admit, I haven’t had as much schoolin’ as most of the Obama administration’s posse, but I do know the definitions of both traceable and recovered, and they are quite different.
Follow this if you can folks, Here’s how they got to the 90 percent number:
In 2007-2008, the ATF submitted 11,000 guns to the ATF for tracing.
Those 11,000 firearms were part of the 29,000 firearms Mexican officials recovered at crime scenes.
ATF states that 0f the 11,000 firearms submitted to U.S. officials for tracing, 6,000 could be traced somewhere because of the serial numbers or other distinctive markings.
Of those 6,000 firearms, 5,114 or 90 percent, were found to have been smuggled from the U.S.
Wow, and I thought I had math defeciencies!
Let’s try that again without all of the BS:
29,000 firearms were recovered at crime scenes by Mexican officials.
Of those 29.000 firearms, 5,114 were found to have been smuggled into Mexico from the US.
That’s 17.6 percent.
The worst part about this story isn’t the blatant lying and manipulation of the facts, but that Obama’s spokespeople have repeatedly stated that they stand by the 90 percent statement.

Which is ironic since she claims to be a comedian.
If you are fortunate enough to have missed Janeane Garofalo’s latest bats**t crazy rant on MSNBC, you can see it at Olbermannwatch.com, along with some great commentary by my favorite late night show, Red Eye.
Being called a “redneck and a “racist” by her doesn’t make me angry, it makes me laugh. She’s been a joke for a long time, and this latest nonsense just makes her even less credible (like the CNN reporter at the Tea Party) and more of a joke than ever before. A sad, pushing fifty but trying to look twenty, unattractive on the inside and out joke.
Anyone that calls a group of people rednecks, and in the same breath accuses said rednecks of being racist can not possibly be taken seriously. I’m not exactly sure which combination of mental illnesses she suffers from (NPD for one), but one of the symptoms is obviously cognitive dissonance.
Another reason to not be upset is the drivel she spews isn’t meant for me, it’s meant for the Elvis Factor, the “enlightened” that congregate at the Starbucks the next day over lattes and talk to hear their own voice, but never listen.
So, here’s to you Janeane – I’m not laughing with you, I’m laughing at you.
